Caloundra Private Clinic provides comprehensive, evidence-based treatment for acute and chronic mental health conditions. Care is provided by a multidisciplinary team of experienced mental health clinicians including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers and mental health nurses. Our vision is to be the leading provider of exceptional mental health care in South East Queensland. We aim to facilitate the best recovery outcomes for our patients.
Recovery from mental illness means gaining and retaining hope, understanding of one's abilities and disabilities, engagement in an active life, personal autonomy, social identity, meaning and purpose in life, and a positive sense of self1. The recovery approach is a core theme in contemporary mental health research and treatment2–8. It is embedded into national1,9 and state10,11 legislation. Our hospital is fully accredited against the National Standards for Mental Health Services1 which outlines these recovery principles. We strongly embrace the recovery approach into our clinical care.
We want you to be involved in your treatment and recovery. We have a consumer committee that evaluates our services and has input during hospital accreditation; we facilitate daily ward meetings with patients to provide quick responses to any issues regarding your care; and we analyse your feedback through our quality improvement processes. Also, we want to build a ‘safety net’ around you with carers, family, friends and other health providers to facilitate a more successful recovery. Therefore, we actively include carer input regarding our services.
